In the world of architecture, moldings represent the most varied patterns. Loosely categorized and identified by scholars as bands of ornamentation, our moldings enrich horizontal spaces and mediate support and weight for enclosed ceilings, walls and floor panels. The reduced-scale classes of the Federal and Georgian styles are apparent in many of the molding styles. Ogees -- or elongated s-shaped curves -- are reminiscent of Colonial revival styles. Egg and dart astragals (a narrow, beaded convex molding), and our beaded moldings are representative of the Greek Revival. Guilloche (interlaced) patterns, fret, chain links, labyrinth and dentil patterns (small rectilinear equally spaced projections) also make strong statements in this product category. |
