By definition, Corbels are Brackets that project from a wall and support or give the appearance of support to ceilings, beams, shelves or any overhanging element. We have decorated our Corbels predominantly with acanthus leaves -- one of the most popular adornments in architectural woodworking. This broad leaf with spoon-like roundings and leaf points is cut proportionally and designed to maintain its appeal from a distance. The acanthus motif, first introduced by the Greeks, adds distinction to the home.
Other types of ornamentation, whether adopted from natural foliage such as floral, grape and oak leaf patterns, or idealized human figures and animals such as lions, horses and swans, respectfully play a prominent part in our Corbel collection. |
